Chopin Jazz Transcendental Etudes (solo piano) | Orford Musique, Orford, QC
I perform my complete set of nine Jazz Transcendental Etudes, based on nine of Chopin's great Etudes from op. 10 and op. 25. These pieces reimagine Chopin's masterpieces through a contemporary jazz lens, both extending Chopin's technical demands and adding new technical and rhythmic challenges for the pianist. Both fun and soul-searching, this program features searing hyper-virtuosity alongside meditative explorations, with styles ranging from Boogie-Woogie, Latin and Ragtime to Tango, Gospel and funk fusion.

Chick Corea Autrement ! | Salle Bourgie, Montréal, QC
I perform the classical chamber music of Chick Corea with string quartet, flute and horn.
The program features Chick's great Septet, Temple of Isfahan and Children's Songs (solo piano), along with my own arrangement of his famous song, Armando's Rhumba, for the group. Although fully composed, the pieces do include a few sections for improvisation. Rarely performed, these pieces reveal a side of Chick Corea many do not know - that of the classical composer of major, "serious" works. Using his own unique musical language, Chick's chamber music is strikingly beautiful, intense, and impeccably structured.

Jazz concert at El Paso Pro Musica Fesival | UTEP, Fox Fine Arts Recital Hall, El Paso, Tx
The first half features a handful of my "improvised" original compositions and jazz arrangements of Chopin pieces. The second half features a set with UTEP's jazz group in residence, The Jazz Exchange, performing a selection of our respective original compositions together. The concert will also feature free improvisations based on suggestions from the audience - they will be asked to describe a place they want to be, and I will attempt to bring them there (and the whole audience as well) through a free improvisation inspired by these suggestions.

On the first half of the program I perform Bach's Concerto in D minor, including an original cadenza in each movement, as well as the continuo of Brandenburg Concerto no. 3 on the harpsichord. The second half of the program features my original jazz arrangements of selected pieces by Bach:
Partita no. 5 in G: Praeambulum;
Concerto no. 5 in F minor, movts I and II;
Violin Concerto no. 1 in A minor: Andante;
Violin Partita no. 3 in E major: Prelude
This concert proposes a new vision of the genius music of J,S. Bach using a variety of contemporary musical styles. The first half is mostly 18th century Bach, the second half mostly 21st century Bach, but everything contains a mix of both.
