Famous to pianists for its finger-twisting, tendonitis-inducing chromatic lines over chords all in one hand, this Etude, previously known as the Chromatic, has been transformed into El Montuno! via a new left-hand montuno line underneath the étude's original right hand ascending/descending chromatic lines. The new challenge here (if you really need one!) is to make the new montuno lines effortlessly groove underneath Chopin's already insanely difficult right hand. The new left hand is almost an étude unto itself, so I would suggest mastering that on its own first before trying to put it together with the right hand. Once you have the hang of it, it's really quite fun to get them to interact together. So, have fun with it!
